DescriptionThe Visual Mathematics Institute was created in 1975 to administer grants from the State of California and the NSF. The "Visual Math Project" was created at the University of California at Santa Cruz (UCSC), for the development of computer-graphic based materials for teaching university math: precalculus, calculus, linear algebra, and ordinary differential equations. Since 1990, the VMI has been supported by small grants from individuals, to continue the creation of new materials relating to chaos theory, and its applications in the sciences and arts.
